Brown Bag Lunches PDF Print E-mail

For many years Davis Community Church has provided a brown bag lunch to anyone in need who walks through the door. The meal is very basic but filling and available Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the church office. A faithful group of volunteers buy the food, pack the lunches and serve the meal five days a week.  Those who feel called to hospitality to people in need are welcome a regular basis or as a substitute server. It is simply a matter of greeting people warmly and offering a meal.

On Monday and Wednesday, lunch is available on our campus at Grace House at the corner of 5th & D St, 441 D St.  Lunch is served from 12 - 2 p.m.

General Mission Giving PDF Print E-mail

General Mission Giving

The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has created four churchwide opportunities each year called Special Offerings to support specific causes. The focuses of the offerings correspond with the season of the liturgical year or special days of the church calendar: the Christmas Joy Offering is generally received the Sunday before Christmas; One Great Hour of Sharing on Easter Sunday; the Pentecost Offering on the Day of Pentecost; and the Peacemaking Offering on World Communion Sunday.  Davis Community Church participates in all four special offerings and in general mission giving as well. General Mission Support is used to strenghthen smaller congregations, support mission service personnel and provide leadership training and scholarships.

One Great Hour of Sharing logo

Since 1949 One Great Hour of Sharing has helped people in need around the world. The offering supports Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Self-Development of People and the Presbyterian Hunger Program.

Pentecost logo

Congregations are encouraged to retain 40 percent of the Pentecost Offering for local work with children at risk. The remaining 60 percent is shared among ministries with youth and young adults, young adult mission volunteers and child advocacy.

Peacemaking Program logo

The Peacemaking Offering is distributed among local congregations (25 percent), presbyteries and synods (25 percent) and the General Assembly (50 percent) for peacemaking efforts. The offering is received on World Communion Sunday, the first Sunday in October.

Christmas Joy Offering logo

The Christmas Joy Offering has been a Presbyterian tradition for more than 70 years. Its proceeds benefit active and retired workers of the church in times of need and also support the work of racial ethnic Presbyterian schools and colleges.

Stephen Ministry PDF Print E-mail

stepehn ministry

One way in which Davis Community Church’s vision, "Beloved of God, let us love," is carried out is through the Stephen Ministry program. It is a one-to-one ministry. Since 1994 DCC has had an active program. Lay persons are trained to become careful, loving listeners who bring Christ’s healing power to those who are hurting. They keep all conversations confidential. Stephen Ministers make a long-term commitment to walk alongside another who is going through a transition in their life such as divorce, loss of a loved one, depression, job loss, struggling with their faith, childbirth, terminal illness, surgery, legal problems and other difficulties for as long as needed. If you are interested in serving as a Stephen Minister, establishing a relationship with a Stephen Minister, or simply want more information about DCC's Stephen Ministry, please contact JoAnn Diel ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) at (530)753-2894.
