Davis Community Book Focus - We have a winner!

The choice has been made!  DCC’s Community Book Focus selection is Journey to the Common Good by Walter Brueggeman, a book that explores ways to apply the lessons of Old Testament writings to “the faith and life and practice of the church as we journey together toward the common good that God wills for the world.”  The Adult Formation Ministry envisions the Book Focus project as a way of deepening community and inspiring dialogue across all members of the DCC congregation.

How can you participate?  First acquire and read a copy of the book.  Avid Reader in Davis will be ordering a number of copies to have in-house and is willing to special order others if needed.  It is also available from Amazon in new, used, and Kindle formats and from The Thoughtful Christian, an online Presbyterian-focus book store.  That website is www.TheThoughtfulChristian.com.

Community discussion will kick-off on February 26 as the Journey is interpreted in the sermon marking the first Sunday in Lent.  Throughout Lent, multiple opportunities for dialogue and community discernment on Journey to the Common Good will be offered to facilitate participation by as many people as possible.  One small group will be offered during the traditional Sunday Adult Formation hour (9:30 to 10:30AM).  Others will take place at various times during the week, either at DCC or in member’s homes.  Go to the sign up sheet online at http://bit.ly/xfELD2 or in person in the back of the Sanctuary on Sunday mornings to find a group that works with your schedule.

Join the fun! And whatever you do, don’t give up reading for Lent.
